OHS APPLICATIONS

Occupational Health and Safety Applications

OYAK Cement aims to establish a healthy and secure working environment that conforms with the occupational health and safety legislation and administrative regulations, to prevent work accidents and occupational diseases, and to reach the highest level of world standards in this field and maintain this position. Our one and only target regarding occupational health and safety (OHS) is “zero workplace accidents”.

First of all, OYAK Cement believes that this target can be achieved as “all work accidents are preventable”.

It prioritizes occupational health and safety in all its activities. It operates with the mentality that every coworker on-site, including managers, should “act in line with occupational health and safety rules” and “immediately intervene” in the event that workplace environments, situations, activities, or behavior poses an occupational safety risk.

OYAK Cement informs its employees, subcontractor employees and third persons who are impacted by its areas of activity of its OHS roadmap, uses OHS principles that support OHS applications, and adopts a systematic approach that focuses on behavioral changes.

OYAK Cement’s OHS principles: Occupational health and safety is our main target and the first step of every process. Complying with occupational health and safety rules does not prevent us from operating effectively and reaching other targets. All work accidents are preventable and none of them can be deemed acceptable. Every employee working in our factories has the right to work in safe and healthy conditions and has a duty to contribute to the establishment of such conditions and to participate in training courses and events regarding them. Employees are responsible for both their and other persons’ occupational health and safety on a factory site. Area managers are responsible for their own employees and any employees from other departments or third parties who are working in their departments. Every coworker is obliged to inform the persons authorized to stop operations and unit managers when an unsafe or risky situation is identified. Every employee with managerial responsibilities is obliged to establish healthy and safe working conditions in the workplace, and to improve behaviors and personal competencies, as well as processes in line with the legislation, technological developments, and the rules of our organization. Risk assessments are performed for the continuous improvement of our performance when it comes to occupational health and safety and any deficiencies are corrected. These principles apply to everyone on a factory site.

Human Resources

OYAK Cement’s human resources management mentality consists of the adoption of approaches and applications that support strategical targets and performance, while responding to the special needs of the different industries with which it conducts its activities in an appropriate and efficient manner.
